#1 – EASE OF USE. You are learning together with your child, not teaching the subject matter, which allows for less preparation — and more face-to-face time.
WinterPromise follows the principles of the Charlotte Mason method, introducing wonderful literature and integrating exciting hands-on activities that students really learn from. As you read, discuss and journey through books, you’ll discover new ideas, new facts, new heroes and new villains together. You’ll relish the adventure as much as they do. You simply open your guidebook, bring out your books and begin each day.
You are still teaching your child, of course. This method allows you to share your values as you read an engrossing story or come across an undesirable role model in your history book. It offers you the unlimited opportunity to teach the character traits you most value in a day-to-day, natural environment. And you’ll have time to teach these values because the method does not waste your time on preparation. Every moment you have set aside for homeschooling is spent together with your family! Isn’t that the way it’s supposed to be?
#2 – AMAZING THEMES. Incredible included history books that bring other people and other times to life, while themes present unique information and perspective.
The books you’ll encounter aren’t dusty textbooks, but are interesting books with illustrations that will pull kids into another person’s life, or help them visit places that are “long ago” or “far away.” These titles have been chosen to have your children begging for more! And you? With virtually no time spent preparing yourself to “teach” the material, you are free to journey along with the kids in learning — just as they are! Plus, our themes are truly unique, taking you along on archaeological digs, setting out for sailing adventures, or getting to know children in need. Each theme offers a unique, wonderful experience!
#3 – PRACTICAL INTERACTIVITY. Your family will do incredible activities together — activities that are low-prep and educationally rich!
Have you got a hands-on learner? Kids who love to do crafts? How about a high schooler who wants some hands-on research? You’ll encounter resources that will engage your students from start to finish. We here at WP write resources for real parents. We include activities you’ll actually do! There are many that require no prep at all! Many of the books we’ve chosen offer activities, but we also include additional ideas in the guidebook, and in activity resources that will appeal to the grade level it targets. From the Boston Tea Party to Viking raiding parties, your studies will spring to life with activities that are rewarding and realistic to accomplish!
#4 – CHRISTIAN. Bible teaching tools will draw your children’s hearts toward God.
Most of our Bible resources, especially for older students, are designed to support their main studies or the life issues students face.
#5 – CROSS-CURRICULAR. Language arts courses are designed to work hand-in-hand with primary studies.
Language arts courses are designed with readers and creative writing assignments that support your primary studies. So, if you choose “The American Story 1” as your primary study, one of your student’s writing assignments might be to develop a Revolutionary War message. Not only that, but each of our primary studies has several grade levels of language arts that coordinate with it. Thus, if you are teaching a first- and third-grader with “The American Story 1,” each has their own language arts course designed for their grade level that supports their studies.
#6 – MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCE LINKED. Our guidebooks give you more than enough ideas, and just the right advice about how to teach any kind of learner.
Our guidebooks are overflowing with good ideas: from how to teach beginning phonics, what to give your oh-so-creative child to do, how to reinforce what your child has learned, to where to find quality videos that give your family another dimension of learning. Students can take in information based upon their own learning style. In short, the suggestions go on and on!
#7 – STREAMLINED. Easy-to-follow guidebooks lay out each day’s assignments so there’s almost no record-keeping.
The guidebooks are comprehensive and detail what each day holds. They are a record in and of themselves of what you have accomplished. Simply check off assignments as you complete them. Grades can be written in as well.
#8 – FOUR-DAY. Our four-day scheduling offers flexibility to real-life families.
The schedule is written so school work can be completed in four days, with a fifth day free to use as a “hands-on” day or simply free for other family activities or extra-curricular pursuits. On the other hand, if a five-day schedule suits your family, you can use the guidebook to fit a more traditional weekly schedule.
#9 – SCHOOLING TOGETHER. Multi-level programs mean your students can share one program — saving you money and time.
The primary programs are written for a range of ages, which means you do not have to buy a separate package for each student. The more students you have using that program, the less it costs you per student!
#10 – FAMILY CULTURE. Best of all — you’re creating a family culture of your own that lasts forever!
It will spill over into playtime, vacations, and trips to the store because kids love the “Adventure!” Instead of children in every corner of the house, heads bent studying their own books by themselves, you’ll work together as a family through books and activities. This means you’ll have common stories to recall and share, inside jokes to retell and above all, memories to last a lifetime.
