The “All-American 1” Guide
The “All-American 1” Guide schedules a variety of well-illustrated history and culture books in this easy to read guide. The schedule is based on a 4-day week, which leaves one day free for extracurricular studies, field trips, co-op, doctor appointments, trips to the grocery store, or whatever else in your “real life.”
All-American 1 combines some of the well-illustrated books from American Story 1 with the heart of the American Crossing program represented by key historical study resources. This program contains more resources than either American Story 1 or American Crossing, and is designed to make it easy for parents to combine a range of students in grades 1st through 7th grade. You’ll find more detail on this below.
You’ll love the clear weekly schedules and helps in this guide. The guide also includes activity ideas, advice on teaching and grading student work using Charlotte Mason ideals, website links, as well as a rating system and supply lists for activities and experiments.

This program combines the best elements of American Crossing and American Story 1 to allow families to school a range of students from 1st grade to junior high. All-American 1 includes many of the highlights of American Crossing, such as the Time Travelers Activity CDs and the state study. It also includes some of the wonderful, well-illustrated titles from American Story 1, such as the Liberty! Story of the American Revolution and Pioneer Sampler. This makes it easy to bring along a larger range of ages than either program on its own.
Just as in American Crossing, you’ll make a lot of memories with another key part of this program — the Time Travelers Activity series. With these helps, you’ll create three dimensional history scenes, assemble and play games, make pop-up art, and enjoy activities like making shadow puppets, five-pointed stars, and doubloons. And the fun activities and resources from American Story will have students enjoying other hands-on opportunities like surveying like Lewis and Clark, or making a paper 3-D map of the Erie Canal.
Resources in this program will capture your family’s interest in “crossing” America. History books take you on the scene and share a lot of detail that will kindle your student’s imagination. Students will also enjoy delving into picture studies of several artists who captured the American spirit on canvas. There’s just so much here!

Schooling a Range of Ages
If you’d like all your students to study American history, this program is designed so your family can complete this program together with adjustment. The All-American 1 Set brings together some of the best resources from the two programs American Story 1 and American Crossing. You’ll want to keep in mind that some of the resources may not connect with your youngest students, though older students can help and mentor younger ones along the way, too. Some parents choose instead to purchase the two sets separately so that older students complete American Crossing while younger family members work through American Story 1. If you have several students at the youngest end, you may be better off using the two programs instead of just the one All-American 1 set.
