This Notebooking Resource
“Stalking Sea Monsters” is a notebooking resource. Each section of this resource features a different sea monster profiled in the book, “Dragons of the Deep,” by Carl Weiland, published by MasterBooks. Students are to record what they’ve learned from that book on these pages. Pages in this resource are not numbered, so students can even add additional pages or their own drawings, if they wish. The notebooking pages feature wonderful full-color borders, icons, and more.
Each section includes a spread with these features:
Sea Monster Skeleton – This feature can be colored and shaded, and needs to have measurements of the creature included on the scale.
Facts to Know – Students should record facts they discovered in their reading about each sea creature.
Unusual Features – This area allows students to write down what they found particularly interesting or unusual about each sea monster.
Description – Students can write about the distinguishing features of each sea monster.
Drawing – Here, students can complete a drawing that has been begun for them. Students who enjoy this part of the notebook can add as much detail as they like, including adding color to the monster, or drawing its surroundings and sea home.
Stalking Section – All sea monsters feature an extra page. A few of them have a special feature that focuses on a characteristic or issue related to that sea monster. Most have a page that students can use to paste in pictures of the sea monster, its possible food sources, or newspaper articles about sea monsters that have been spotted.
